Zittle Farm
John Zittle is behind every loaf of bread at Five Points Bakery. We met on the site of a straw bale house I was helping to build. When we were starting Five Points one year later and were unsuccessfully trying to locate local wheat, I thought back to pitching those bales off the wagon and thought, "Was that wheat straw?" It turns out it was and John became our wheat farmer. He has worked in tandem with us, researching grain varieties that work in our climate, and work well for bread. Klaas Martens from Lakeview Organic Grain supplied us with a variety of wheat called AC Morley, proven successful not only successful in our area, but great for making bread. We are very lucky and excited to work with John and look forward to pioneering the farmer to baker relationship in Western New York.
Lakeview Organic Grain
In Organic grain production, Klaas Martens of Lakeview Organic Grain and his wife Mary Howell not only personally grow some incredible heirloom varieties of wheat, corn and spelt, but their business cleans, bags, and distributes grains from farmers all over Western New York. Klaas is very involved in the resurrection of wheat farming in our area, from panel discussions at wheat conferences in New York City, to workshops with NOFA (Northeast Organic Farmers Alliance). Lakeview is not only an ally in our endeavor, but an inspiration.

Corey Kley
Corey Kley's one man ice cream operation produces some of the finest ice cream, from the finest ingredients, and in some of the smallest batches. This rich, flavorful ice cream can not be found in any store, except here at Five Points Bakery.

Lexington Cooperative Market
For those of you who aren't one of the 6000+ owners of the Lexington Coop or one of the thousands who shop there every week, this grocery store not only sells local foods, they have a by-law, written by their board of directors that requires the store to purchase from local producers, even if it is more expensive than a non-local competitor. This is not the decision the board made on their own, but a reflection of the thousands of owners and customers who elected them. The Lexington Coop has been not only an incredible asset in supplying us with great local ingredients, they are our only wholesale customer.
Their success has shown us what we felt all along; customers are demanding to know where their food comes from.

By providing not only a space to produce their product, but the support necessary to get started they are an incredible asset to our neighborhood and to our city.
Meadowcreek Farm
Homogenization became the standard in milk production, along with pasteurization, but Meadowcreek is the only retail milk that I know of that sells cream line milk. The textures and flavors of the cream and milk are so dynamic when not homogenized; I like to skim a little of the cream off for my coffee and then pour the milk for my cereal.

Regional Access
When we first opened, we had not planned on using any distributors, but quickly realized that to purchase our organic cane sugar and fair trade chocolate in bulk, we had to find somebody to work with. Regional Access, a distributor of natural and specialty items seemed a good place to start. After explaining what we were doing at Five Points Bakery, I began inquiring which of their products were produced locally. I was first referred to the "Great Local Foods" section of their website where customers can find some of thir products, which are produced locally. After exhausting that, Gary, owner/founder of Regional Access told us a group of farmers that purchased a hydraulic oil press and were pressing their own organic seeds right now. He was helping them design the packaging and offered to include Five Points Bakery in the initial trials. The dedication of Regional Access to advancing local foods and the farmers that produce them is a perfect match.
